KEEPING FAMILIES SAFE (WKEF/WRGT) : Technology is changing at lightening speed, and with those developments come more options than ever to protect your home and family.

If you're looking to beef up your security, there are dozens of options that are high tech or low tech, and the cost is everywhere in between.

A Taser is one option that can temporarily incapacitate an intruder or unwelcome person, as it shoots prongs into the body and 50,000 volts surge through.

“It literally locks up all of your muscles, so you need to hit em with it lay it down and get going”, security expert Bill Parsons said. A Taser costs between $400 and $1,100.

There are also more options when it comes to home surveillance, including options that have more mobility. Parsons said drones fitted with cameras work well.

“So this would give you the capacity to be able to see what’s going on around your house," Parsons said, "but basically around the whole neighborhood.”

A drone will set you back between $200 and $500 dollars.

If you're looking for something in a lower price range, a $10 high decibel magnetic window or door alarm might just be enough to help keep your family safe. The devices are easy to install and, at 120 decibels, may give you enough time to call 911.

You can also throw up a few webcams to possibly catch crooks in act just by turning on your cell phone. The popular ICAM costs $5.

There are always other options, such the wireless doorbell with a hidden camera that records everyone who comes to your door.

So whether you go low tech or high tech, there something for everyone to keep your family safe.
